Philosophy

It is our belief that through active, hands-on learning experiences, a child is able to develop in social, physical, intellectual, cognitive and emotional domains; what we refer to as the “SPICE” of life.  Teachers plan a developmentally appropriate curriculum that is integrated into the areas of creative art, gross and fine motor skills, literacy and dramatic play.  All of these promote positive social interactions.  Our classrooms offer age appropriate materials that allow children to work at their own pace and at their own level.  We provide and maintain a classroom setting that is emotionally secure, supportive and planned for independence.  Taking initiative, assuming responsibility, self help skills and decision making will be encouraged at all times to promote a child’s self esteem and confidence.

While we believe strongly that all children learn through play, we understand that our 2’s have very different needs than our 5's.  As the children get older, they will have ample time to play and discover but our curriculum is specifically designed to start the children on an academic plan by our pre-k class.

As many studies have shown, children of the same age will not necessarily develop and learn at the same rate.  Our classrooms provide the means for active learning, giving children many opportunities to work at their own pace and on their own level.  Ultimately, this allows each child to attain success in all areas of their development as they are ready.  Children naturally touch, feel, smell, observe and investigate almost everything that comes within their reach.  They are explorers and our teachers will follow their lead to stimulate each child’s natural curiosity.

We provide and maintain a classroom setting that is emotionally secure, supportive and planned for independence.  We want each child’s preschool experience to be a positive one, filled with activities that are both challenging and rewarding.  Our program is aimed at teaching a child how to think, rather than what to think and seeks to develop eager and confident life-long learners.

It is our goal to nurture each child in all developmental areas, thereby helping them develop to their fullest potential.  Given a wide variety of multi-level materials and a choice of learning centers, the children will be free to explore, experiment, investigate and communicate, stimulating their thinking and learning processes.  Taking initiative, assuming responsibility, and making choices will be encouraged at all times allowing each child to become an independent thinker and gain self confidence.

We encourage parents to talk with teachers or the administrative team with questions or comments regarding our school and how it can best serve your child.

At Toddler Time, our creative curriculum focuses on thematic units. Through our curriculum, we will work towards helping your child achieve the most from their preschool experience and gain self confidence through a multisensory approach to learning.  Preschool children are well prepared to enter Kindergarten and work with the "Handwriting Without Tears" curriculum, which is taught in the local school system. As we progress through the school year, some of our objectives are:
